Central Wisconsin Electric Cooperative is pleased to announce a new building project for our headquarters.  CWEC currently operates from 2 sites, the main office in Iola and a sub office in Wittenberg.  Building a new headquarters in the Rosholt area will allow the coop to merge operations of the current 2 offices and achieve better service to our membership.

New CWEC Building

In the earlier years of the coop, we used to have an office in the Rosholt area as well as an office in Iola, Tigerton, and Wittenberg.  We have now come to the point where we need more space and want to consolidate our operations to create better efficiencies.  Our current site in Iola cannot accommodate an expansion.  We have been in this building for 60 plus years.

Greg Blum, General Manager of the cooperative, states ‘The time is right to take on this project.  We have recently completed some large technology projects and system enhancements and are completing our 5 year cycle on our brushing program this year.   This project will allow us to combine operations and save money in addition to providing the facilities needed for the next 50 years.’

“The community of Iola has been fantastic.  Leaving won’t be easy.  We are a big part of Iola and will continue to support the community like we always have with the hometown program, revolving loans, and community events.”

Central Wisconsin Electric Cooperative serves around 8000 members in Marathon, Shawano, Portage, and Waupaca Counties.  They have been serving their members since 1938.
