How To Report An Outage

If your lights go out....

Call us at 715-677-2211 or 1-800-377-2932. Don't assume your neighbor has called.

Follow us on facebook and twitter for updates!

Find out if your neighbors have lost power, too.  If so, contact us immediately:

  • Call toll free 1-800-377-2932, answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week!
  • Please be ready to give your name, telephone number and LOCATION NUMBER. This number can be found on your electric bill.
  • Leave one (1) switch on so you'll know when your power is restored.
  • Stay away from downed power lines.
  • Have emergency supplies on hand (candles, matches, flashlights, etc.)

During widespread outages when hundreds of members may be calling us, please be patient.

We will do our best to have your power restored in the shortest amount of time possible, but when we have outages over extended areas delays can happen so we ask for your patience and understanding.

  1. Check to see if electricity is off over your entire premise.
  2. Check to see if there is power to your meter by physically walking out to your meter(s). If your meter is a digital meter and no numbers are displayed, then your power is out and you need to contact Central Wisconsin Electric Cooperative. If numbers are visible on the display screen it is not a Central Wisconsin Electric Cooperative outage; it is a problem on your end and your responsibility. Please contact a licensed electrician to fix any problems on the consumer's side of the service. The cooperative is allowed to perform service up to the meter. Any wires from the meter to your buildings belong to you and their repair are your responsibility.
  3. Check if your fuses are blown or circuit breakers are tripped.
  4. If the problem is in the fuse box, move the main switch to the Off position. Replace any blown fuses, then retun the main switch to On.
  5. To reset a circuit breaker, switch the breaker to Off, then back to On.
  6. Check with your neighbors to see if they have electricity. Knowing the extent of the outage will help find the reason faster.
  7. If you're still without power, contact us.
When you've determined the outage is not on your wires, call the cooperative and give the following information:
  • Your name and the name of the person who is receiving service at the location. (Many times we will receive a call from someone other than the person whose name the service is in and it is impossible for us to locate the outage).
  • Your Central Wisconsin Electric Cooperative service map location. The location number is listed on the left side of your monthly bill or on the magnet you received from CWEC.
  • Cause of the outage, if known. This will assist the crews in locating the problem and restoring the electricity.  Please inform us of anything you might have heard or observed that may be related to the outage, such as a pop at the transformer, a line down, etc.
